How far toward G Street does the diagonal parking go?

    Diagonal parking will extend along Main Street from H to P Streets. However, one-way diagonal parking will only span from O Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Final parking striping will be confirmed after the project is completed.

    Where does the one-way traffic on Main Street start and end?

    One-way traffic will begin at O Street and continue to Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

    When will the one-way direction be switched to its permanent configuration?

    The permanent one-way direction is scheduled for mid-summer after final steps like traffic signal upgrades and striping. Additional short-term closures may be required to complete these tasks.

    Will Canal Street be one-way when it reopens? Will it have diagonal parking?

    Yes. Canal Street will reopen as one-way, with temporary diagonal parking striping in place. The one-way directional change will occur at a later date.

    Are ADA parking spaces and ramps being added?

    Yes. Four new ADA-compliant parking spaces will be installed along Main Street:

    • Between N and M Streets

    • Between M and Canal Streets

    • At Main & Canal

    • Between Canal and K Streets

    Will 18th Street between M and K have diagonal parking?

    Yes, diagonal parking is planned on one side of 18th Street between M and K Streets. The exact layout will be finalized after striping.

    Current Work (Now–June 6):

    • Rolling closures on 18th Street and Main Street for crack and slurry sealing

    Upcoming Closures:

    • Monday, June 2: Full closure of 18th St. (MLK Jr. Way to M) from 6 AM to 1 PM
    • Week of June 2: 16th St. closed from MLK Jr. Way to M St.
    • June 9–13: Main St. closed (MLK Jr. Way to M St.) for directional change and crosswalk improvements
    • June 16–27: Final phase – expect delays throughout downtown
